Bahramji & Mashti - Sufiyan 2009

Music is more then the notes. The instruments are used, the notes are used, and the sounds are used. To create a silence between two sounds. That silence is the music to be born. Gratitude is your sensitivity towards the universe ... or existence. Music is my sensitivity. Silence between two sounds is music. Between two words is poetry.” (Bahramji)

Working with Danish producer and DJ Mashti, this album is a special combination between the ancient and traditional, connecting it with the modern and technical. If asked, Bahram says about the origin of his music: “It is simply spontaneous and comes from the heart, it develops out of the moment.“

Somehow Bahramji and Mashti combine what should be polar opposites: soothing, flowing, meditative santoor, flute, ney, settar together with powerful beats and mystical eastern vocals. It's done in a truly symbiosis. Influences from ancient, traditional Sufi melodies as well as Kurdish and Indian sounds are found on the album. The multi-layers of their music reflects itself also in the texts about wisdoms and experiences, which go back to old Persian mystics and poets such as Rumi, Attar or Hafez.

The album transports an unbelievable strength and energy. It is somewhat magical. Most tracks are led by a slow, very deep, driving and almost hypnotic bass line. These beats are important to Bahram. „Beats symbolize the rhythm of life, the rhythm of the body, the heart“, he says. The deep tones are embedded into wonderfully percussive elements and are accompanied by the charming sounding instrument such as Santoor, Saz, Tomback, Kamanche.

Bahramji says, “Sufism for me, is a source of inspiration, from the roots of my Persian childhood till my being in the presence of today. It's a high form of communication with the universe. I'm travelling like a nomad and get influenced by many different cultures, so all this is reflecting on my music. My music is getting beyond borders. It's a mix of Oriental Music & Worldbeat. Sufi music, according to me, is a way of meditation, it can bring you into silence. You can listen to it endlessly, over and over again, becoming like a mantra...”

„Sufiyan“ is Bahrams second album together with producer and DJ Mashti. If you like to dance, meditate or just listen to great eastern music, you'll enjoy this album!!

Bahramji & Maneesh De Moor - Call of the Mystic 2005

Imagine this. 35 celcius, a warm breeze, the fragrance of the ocean voices of people singing together ' enjoying life as it is they sing, chant, laugh and dance till they drop!

Call them Sufi's ' and Bahram-Ji is one of their number. He plays a magical instrument, the Persian Santoor, which ' the Sufi's say, creates the sound of emptiness. In addition, he is a fine singer, a channel for the divine and a great cook!

Now imagine again: 35 celcius, disco lights, city-people, dancing close together based in the urban jungle of Amsterdam, Maneesh de Moor is musician and producer, who specializes in the crossover between the ethnic and the ambient ' the traditional and the contemporary a magician, who brings the past into the present.

Different roots, but meeting in the same bliss, keyboard-wiz Maneesh and Sufi mystic Bahram-Ji jump together into the studio and created for us this most precious music. Made in deep respect for each other's amazing talents, from the heart, with no compromise.

The lyrics are based on Rumi's and other mystical poetry and the tracks carry an urban vibe rooted in meditation. A powerful concection.

They dedicate the album to ever increasing abundance love and world peace, to more friendship among tribes, to less war among brothers and ultimately to God itself. This is where their music comes from and this is the message they bring.

Bahramji Feat. Mashti -Sufi Safir 2007

Working with Danish DJ Mashti, this album is a special combination between the ancient and traditional, connecting it with the modern and technical. If asked, Bahram says about the origin of his music: 'It is simply spontaneous and comes from the heart, it develops out of the moment.'

The second part of the album title 'Safir' has the Persian meaning of 'traveller'. Thus the album, translated, carries the title 'a Sufi, always travelling.' which is leaning onto Bahrams own life as a Sufi. His journeys also gave inspirations for this album. Influences from ancient, traditional Sufi melodies as well as Kurdish and Indian sounds are found on the album. The multi-layers of Bahrams music reflects itself also in the texts about wisdoms and experiences, which go back to old Persian mystics and poets such as Saadi, Rumi, Attar or Hafez.

The album transports an unbelievable strength and energy. It is somewhat magical. Most tracks are led by a slow, very deep, driving and almost hypnotic bass line. These beats are important to Bahram. 'Beats symbolize the rhythm of life, the rhythm of the body, the heart', he says. The deep tones are embedded into wonderfully percussive elements and are accompanied by the charming sounding Santoor (string instrument) and the Ney (flute). Through this, a second level is opened in the songs, which create an unbelievable listening experience.

Bahram would like to dedicate this work to his good friend Kiritji. It was he who brought Bahram to Ibiza in the year 2003 and introduced him to all musicians and friends. From this time on, much began to develop: The acquaintances with DJ's, live performances and finally the various influences on Bahrams music. His traditional way mixed itself with Ethno, Chill and Ambient. Through this circumstance, music as recorded on this album, is the result.
